Earlier this year, before Covid-19 ground the world to a halt, I made a trip to Disneyland, California to celebrate my birthday. Actually, the entire week was spent in California, with two days in San Francisco, and two days in Los Angles, but in this post, we will focus on the 3-days at Disneyland.

The plaza reopened in August 2019. The week that it opened, I made a trip to visit in that first weekend. And as with most "new" things, when I arrived at the park there was no water. A park employee said it would be fixed Monday morning and apologized. While I didn't get to see what I went downtown for, I still made sure to take some photos featuring views and scenes that I have never photographed before. I live really close to the city of Minneapolis. In fact, I can see the skyline from my driveway. So I take my camera there pretty frequently. The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden at Walker Art Center went through a major reconstruction project that wrapped up late in the summer this year (2017). I grabbed my camera and took a trip there to see how it all looked.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune celebrated its 150-year Birthday on May 25th, 2017. In celebration of that, the city of Minneapolis went green. Not "green" in the sense that it switched to all clean energy. It went green in all of the decorative lights around the cities buildings. I was up at the Witches Hat to get this photo. Living one short block north of Minneapolis, I have often seen the sunsets reflect off the Minneapolis Skyline.  I see them as I drive by on Interstate 94. It is such a beautiful sight to see and each time I saw it I told myself to get my camera and find a place to photograph it from. With sunsets, if you are not already where you need to be, you will miss it by the time you get there. They change so fast and end pretty quick too. So I couldn't just change course and try and find a spot at a moments notice. The moment would pass before

Epcot Center is a wonderful place to be at night when you are a photographer. There are so many wonderful site-lines, structures, topiaries, and of course bit giant golf balls at Epcot. I could easily keep going into the wee hours of the morning if they let me. And even with how often I have beet at Epcot, I am still able to find new views and n ew ways to photograph familiar items.

One of my favorite times to photograph subjects at Epcot's World Showcase is after the Illuminations: Reflections of Earth show is done. Almost everyone in the park heads right to the exits and that leaves a fairly empty playground for me to enjoy. I then take advantage and slowly walk around the World Showcase with my camera and tripod and try to find new and better photographs to create.

How much do you love being at Walt Disney World during the Christmas season? I was walking around Epcot's World Showcase after Illuminations ended and made sure to stop at Germany as their Christmas display is always fantastic. I then walked over to look out over the World Showcase Lagoon and when I turned around, I saw this perfectly framed Germany Christmas Cottage at the edge of the Germany Pavilion. It made for a spectacular photo.

Cinderella's Castle has to be the most photographed icon in the world and is known as the fairy tale castle. I know I have taken more than my share of photos of it. This one here features the Magic Kingdom's castle in a portrait mode photo with some beautiful purple flowers leading your eyes right to it.

This is one of my all time favorite fireworks photos. I was finally able to capture the finale without blowing out the shot, and also keep the castle perfectly lit up in it's stunningly beautiful Christmas lights.

Have you been to Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom at night? It's a surprisingly beautiful park after the sun goes down. The fine folks at Disney have now taken it a step further. Their nighttime water show may be a failure at this time, but the new lighting on the Tree of Life is spectacular. I took this photo while the new multi-colored lights came on, and while there was still some light in the evening sky. This brought out the colors a bit more in the photo. But I may have taken a photo that you have never, ever seen before.

On March 10th, 2016, I suffered a Brain Aneurysm in the early hours of the morning. Thankfully I didn't suffer any permanent damage from this and I am able to live a very normal life. While in the hospital, I realized that the career I was working and enjoying had stripped me of enjoying life as I was ALWAYS at work. It was there in that hospital bed that I decided I needed to find a way to turn my photography into my career instead of something I just did when I had some spare time. 

This blog talks about the events of my brain injury and can hopefully help others who suffer the same injury but don't read the signs and don't get the help.  

I have started converting some of my Disney photos into Black & White images. It is a big change for me as since they are photos from Disney World, I usually tend to up the color and vibrancy of the photos and make them more animated looking. It is Walt Disney World after all and it doesn't have to be set in reality.
